This is a mod that changes how sims plant and fertilize their gardens, and new objects to supplement it.

We collabbed with Tvickiesims on this one ♥ It all started with her idea to buy seeds and plant them from inventory. She's responsible for the looks (meshes, textures), and I'm responsible for the functionality.

Features
- Buy seeds and fertilizer from a stand on community lots
- Fertilize soil using bought bags or homemade compost, including that from custom compost bins
- Plant Maxis and custom plants into Maxis garden plot - new system, you can add new plants to the plot kind of how you add new recipes to the fridge!
- Buy special seeds from garden club, matchmaker or witch NPCs
- Make your own seeds from crops by drying them on a tray
- Set shopping stand for sale in owned businesses

Requires Seasons EP
Since both Tvickie and I have Ultimate Collection, we couldn't test it on lower game versions. You are welcome to post bug reports in the comments.

What To Download
You need the Overhaul mod, seeds and at least one way to buy/get them -- stand or social (or digging/hiking from the related mods section). Make sure to remove the seeds for plants you don't have in your game. Other files are optional, but we recommend everything.

Custom plants do not come with this set! Download them from their creators, if you want to have them

Planting Overhaul
The main mod. It modifies the original garden plot's interactions -- planting and fertilizing. Instead of paying a fee on the spot and getting stuff out of air, you have to have seeds or fertilizer bag in your sim's inventory. To use compost, you have to have it on your lot, in a Maxis or custom compost bin.
To make it more fun, Maxis garden plot can now hold custom garden plants, as long as you have seeds for them!
Conflicts
Honeywell's Garden Plot - Edited
Invisible garden plot clone. Works much like the regular garden plot, only you can place it in pots, planters or wherever. Updated to reflect the above changes to the original Maxis garden plot.

Seeds
Use seeds to grow the corresponding plants on Maxis or HW's soil. Each type of plant has its own seeds packet, price and gardening badge requirement.
  • From the Custom folder, remove seeds for the plants you don't have in your game. Or go download the plants and have great variety in your garden! Seeds without plants won't do much, so you have to download custom plants from their creators, if you haven't already.
We included seeds for these harvestable plants:
  • 6 Maxis plants from Seasons
  • Aysarth's Cottage Garden, Grow Your Greens and Pumpkin Patch sets. We kept prices and badge requirements as Aysarth has set them.
  • Sun & Moon's Seasonal Garden Crops. Technically, those are not garden plants, they function kind of like the money tree, but they're compatible with our mod anyway. All seeds cost §15, like their corresponding plants.
  • MidgeTheTree's Supernatural Garden set, or Tvickiesims' edits. Those seeds are special and can't be bought from the stand. Supernatural sims can buy them from certain NPCs: matchmaker, garden club, or witch (how to remove the supernatural restriction). Prices are also special:
    • Plasma Fruit - §50
    • Life Fruit - §100
    • Cowplant - §200
    • Forbidden Fruit - §500
    • Death Flower - §1000
    You may remove additional garden plots from those sets, since you'll be able to plant them into Maxis soil.
Seeds we made, but not included here:It's possible to create new seeds for other plants, to be able to plant them into Maxis garden plot.

Stand
Shopping rack to buy seeds and fertilizer from. Works both on regular community lots and owned businesses. Needs a cash register on the lot. Allows to buy/sell multiple items at a time. Garden club members get a discount!
On unowned lots seeds' prices vary, mostly based on how much they cost without the mod. On owned lots all items cost the same (about §14 on average), due to how pricing and restocking works in OFB.

Fertilizer
Requires the Stand, therefore included in its folder.

Fertilizing Bag DR
Texture default replacement for an accessory object that appears in sim's hands during the fertilizing animation.

Tray
Station for making your own seeds from produce. Works with harvestables of the plants you have seeds for.
Load some harvested fruit or veggies and wait for about 6 hours. Then pick up their dried seeds. The better the quality of the crops the more seeds you get (1 to 3 packets from one fruit). Use those seeds to plant new plants, or just sell them.

Social
Interaction for buying seeds from NPCs.
Call up one of them and have your sim Buy Seeds from them like you buy potions. Garden club members get a discount!
  • Garden club: sells regular seeds to anyone, and special/supernatural seeds to eligible/supernatural sims.
  • Matchmaker: sells special/supernatural seeds to eligible/supernatural sims.
  • Witch NPC: sells special/supernatural seeds to eligible/supernatural sims.
The requirements for buying seeds depend on the seeds. It's possible to configure existing seeds or create seeds that have completely different special requirements.
