If I don't mind annoying custom stars, etc., can I just put these in my Downloads folder and they will work? I really want to use this mod but the installation instructions are a little intimidating. I've never messed with any of those folders before. Thanks!!

Well, it works in Downloads folder as well, but doing so will enable delete button in the catalog for Maxis beds. You might accdentally delete Maxis beds. (Well, the "deleted" Maxis beds will be back if you quit the game and restart, but still...) Really, just put it in the location in the instructions, it's not that hard. It's not overwriting game files or anything. You can always delete the mod afterwards.

In fact, if you're using the standard version (without price adjustment) and don't mind the discrepancy between the actual rating and the catalog, you can delete OBJD entries with SimPE and put it in your Downloads folder without custom star or delete button enabled. But I personally HATE the discrepancy, especially when cc creators arbitrarily change the catalog value without changing actual ratings.

Hi - When I try to do this I get a diagnostic box from WinRAR that states separate dialogs for each bed type that shows none of them can apply the fix. I haven't tried it in-game yet to see if it works anyway.

I have TeenStuff and extracted the file to the C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Teen Style Stuff\TSData\Res\StuffPack\Objects as you suggested.

Sounds like your download was broken. Try re-download.

I'm a little confused with the installation instructions. I have all EPs and SPs, so do I put all of them in the TSS folder, or do I only put the beds from TSS in that folder and the rest in the BV folder?

Only 3 TSS beds (the ones that start with z) should go to TSS folder.
All other beds except 3 TSS beds should go to BV folder.

Lord Darcy -- first I want to say thank you for making and sharing this mod. I get so sick of seeing the same beds and therefore love this mod.

I followed your instuctions on where to put this mod. I wasn't sure what to name the subfolder, so settled on just plain old Bed. lol!

Then, I went into my game and discovered a problem. It is probably something I did wrong, but maybe you can tell me what to do. All of the double beds are changed to your 8,8,6 but none of the single beds were changed at all.

I have EP1, 2, 3, and 5 and SP1 and SP2 (well, I also have Celebrations, but I don't think there are any new beds with that and I don't think you had any SP3 packages anyway).

So, first I downloaded your file and had it in a folder on my desktop. Then I printed out your RTFM file so I could follow it. I got to the correct folder and made a subfolder as stated above. Then, before I put any files into this new subfolder, I DELETED all files that were for EP4 (Pets - don't have), EP 6 (Bon Voyage - don't have) and SP5 (TSS also don't have). I LEFT all the rest and I just double-checked and there are package files titled: LdDarcy_MotiveFix_Bed_SGL_Base_Cheap, etc. I assume the SGL stands for single and I have 10 files including the one I just listed with the SGL in the name.

So, I do not understand what I did wrong. The package files that have the DBL and the package files with the SGL are all in the same folder, yet only the double beds have the motive change showing in the buy catalog.

I would be so grateful to you for addressing my problem.

Oh, the one thing that I forgot to mention is that I downloaded the file that does NOT change the price of the beds. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

I almost forgot to tell you that when I first realized that the single beds were not changed, I quit the game and then removed my entire downloads folder then went back in to an empty lot to see if that made any difference. It didn't -- just wanted you to know that I did think that maybe some other mod had interfered and tried that before bugging you.

That's very strange. If it doesn't work in Seasons folder, try moving it to the base game folder instead:

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Catalog\Bins

Okay, I'll try that and then let you know if it worked. Thanks for giving me a suggestion. :-)

Hi again -- I really don't mean to be a pain. Okay, I moved the subfolder titled Bed to C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims2\TSData\Res\Catalog\Bins. I really thought that none of the beds would be changed since I took it out of the Seasons folder. But no, the double beds were still showing up as 8/8/6 but the single beds still were not.

So, I thought I would again try pulling out my downloads folder just to make sure. Didn't help. I thought, what next?

So, I opened My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Thumbnails then highlighted them all and deleted them. Went back into the game and still no difference.

Then I tried deleting the group.cache, the accessories.cache and the cigen.package. (I know, the cigen shouldn't have mattered, but I thought, what the heck.) Nothing.

The double beds do have the correct numbering, but the single beds are as if I never installed your mod. :-(

I guess I could remove them completely and then download the one that changes the price to see what happens. But I really wanted to simply keep the price the same and have the extra benefits, lol! I know that's cheating, but it's only a game. :-)

I will wait to hear back from you for any more suggestions before I try putting the other ones in.

I'm really at a loss, as it works perfectly in my game. Well, try putting in just ONE single bed mod at one time and see if it works or not. Need to nail down the culprit, in case only one file is problematic.

Your download might be broken, try redownloading. Sometimes broken download results in mangled package files.

boolprop ShowCatalogePFlags [true/false] cheat might come in handy. It activates labels in the detail view of each objects to show which EP or SP they came from.

All right, first I'll try just putting in one bed at a time. Then, if that doesn't work, I'll try re-downloading it. Although, I have cable internet and I've never had any problems before -- but that doesn't mean it didn't happen this time.

I'm not quite sure why you want me to activate the cheat, but I don't mind doing it. :-)

EDIT -- My Fault - Your Files Were Fine

Well, Lord Darcy, I owe you an apology for wasting your time and possibly worrying you. I must have mis-read your post. I thought that ALL of the beds were going to be 8/8/6 so when the single beds were not, I thought your mod was not working. When I was putting them in one at a time, I realized that your single beds were 5/6/2 and that yes, it was changing them to 5/6/2. So very, very sorry to be such a bother. {{Simsane hangs her head in shame}}

This will teach me to read what the creator posted more carefully!

Well, no problem. The screenshot must have been a bit misleading. I changed the picture to a more descriptive one.

All beds except for Goth Double Bed work fine in FreeTime. I'm currently working on a new FT version for Goth Double Bed, as well as a new fix for FT Comfy single bed.

Default Updated to FreeTime
2008-02-29: Updated to v1.1. Removed redundant BCONs. Added FreeTime Comfy single bed.

Updated Teen Style Stuff Goth double bed to FreeTime.
FreeTime updated TSS Goth Bed, thus breaking my old fix. Remove the previous version from TSS folder, and reinstall FT version to the new location.
If your latest EP is FreeTime or later, get the file with -FT suffix. If your latest EP is only up to Bon Voyage, get the file with -BV suffix.

Thanks for updating this for FT as well! I really like the new "Comfy" bed and it was so frustrating that the ratings were so low. It's great to have it fixed!
