Wow! This is so exciting! I often become frustrated at Maxis camera operation. Thank you!!!

I actually didn't like this mod at first... hated it in fact, but I've stayed with it for a couple of days and completely changed my opinion. One annoying issue it has solved is when I've used the Maxis free cam (tab), returning to the live cam sometimes shoots me into a world of pale blue that I cannot get out of and I actually have to switch off the computer in order to exit. This mod, so far has proved much more reliable in free cam mode.
The only problem I've had is with the key commands 'e' which doesn't do anything at all, and 'q' which is the Quit Game command key on the Mac version. Otherwise... yeah, great live cam, and let's face it, the Maxis camera is one of the most annoying game cams ever made. Nice work!

I realize that you have probably not waited for 6 months to get the answer, but in case it's useful to anybody else...

Clipping is the limits set as to where the camera can go and how far it can turn. In the case mentioned the most in the original post, there is a lower limit as to how low you can move the camera, which he as changed from 3 feet to 1 inch (that he says). If you use a version with Maxis default clipping, the camera will only go where it always went before, but with modified clipping, it can go to places it didn't before.

As for fading... You know when you look at objects from to close, they fade so that you can see through them instead that they don't block the view.

Just make a copy of files, either way you like.

When it's just one file, you could just make a copy with a different name (I like to add the word "backup" after the extension, as in myfile.txt.backup).

If it's many files, as in this case, I like to use WinRAR (or your favorite archiver) so as to make a compressed archive containing a copy of the files (and leave in the same folder, so I don't have to remember where I've put it).

But really, if you find it easier, just copy the files to a new folder on your desktop (or right on the desktop if your Clean skill is lower than 3).

I just had to say, I looooove your cameras. They work great in game. :] It's so much easier to edit 'hoods and decorate. :3 Also, THANK YOU SOOOO much for posting the defaults. I pulled a stupid- forgot to backup and wanted to change a file =_=. D: But, you saved me. :] So, THANKYOUTHANKYOU.

i like this mod, but only one thing i´m not sure... in live and free cam when i press, for example 4 and control to save a camera angle and in other point near the first one i press 5 and control, when i go from 4 to 5 the camera move very fast!, that happens to me in all points, (near and far), how i can´t change it to a no fast transition?

I love this mod. The problem is, after I installed the Freetime patch it stopped working. I'm just back to the regular default Maxis camera. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm going to reinstall it and see if that solves the problem. I sure hope so.

I'm not sure wat happened but I do have a sister who plays on my computer and think she might have been the reason this happened but it looks like she deleted the original files so I only have hacks, so I'm not sure how to do this anymore

I have free time and i re installed the camera files as per instructions above and it works for me. I also patched my game and they did stop working for me too, so just reinstall the files to fix it.

Thanks for the great download, I went with the one you prefer because I have no idea how most of that stuff works. I'll let you know if I have any problems with it.

Double edit: Never mind, works like a dream! The flashing was due to a previous problem I had with the lighting, which I fixed up...again.

Yes, I've also noticed that with apartment Life, the camera won't scroll far away (mousewheel) in neighbourhood view.
You can still go into 'look around' mode though.

Please??

You need to reinstall the camera files if you want it to work again after installing AL or any other expansion pack.

Yeah i know that but the button that directs you to the 3D mode doesnt work...
Without the Cam mod it works...
Someone please update this mod...

To update the Gunmod camera files for AL: open the camera.txt file and at the end of it add a line that says include "CeilingCamera.txt". Save. The button to view the ceilings should resume working.

This camera mod you made Gunmod is really awsome, but I've got a little problem: I've just bought Apartment Life, which has some new cameras and everything reverted to how Maxis made it... Could you please help?
