where do you get your pictures of the floors to edit them? or do you just like take screen shots and like go from there?

Go direct to the source. I've found that going to *real* wallpaper and carpeting places online serve as great inspiration for Sims. Just like any D.I.Y.er as if you were modeling your own home you'd research for patterns and the like, just do the same for the Sims.
