Hi everyone, I´ve just gotten a pc with Windows 10 and when installing the expansion packs after the basegame, I get the "The update process did not complete successfully. Installation will now terminate"-error.

But like others, I didn´t get the prompt to override and thus wasn´t shocked when it didn´t change anything.

But step 6 doesn´t seem to work for Windows 10.
These solutions are rather old - should they still work for Windows 10? I see people overcoming various installment-issues, so can anyone help me figure out what I´m doing wrong, I would be eternally grateful after spending a lot of money on a new pc various expansion packs.

Hi, make sure you install in order and patch the basegame using Grumpy Loader before installing any EPs. Someone recently had some issues, outlined here:

If you still have difficulties, try installing from the digital version instead of the discs:

Thank you so much, I was unclear on when to use the Grumpy Loader but that made it clear. Now everything is installed but crashes when entering household or CAS. I tried the Graphic rules maker and Lazyduchess Launcher as described in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_7qciko7xI, but I can´t get the launcher to work. Please, any input to the most fool proof way to overcome the "Application has crashed, application will now terminate"?

The UC on digital download which contains everything is really the way to go. There are so many potential issues trying to install disks. I used disks for years but even I went over to a digital standalone when I moved to Windows 10.

Some of us like to use the AGS though, Jo! Can't build a basegame neighbourhood on UC.

Thanks - due to the help I´ve gotten here, I´ve been able to install all the discs, though it took some time! But the crashing occurs when entering a household or CAS. Would getting the digital version overcome this? I suppose I would have to uninstall all of my discs to try the digital version?

Are your disks stand alone, collections or a mix? Most stand alone disks require patching, regardless of what the game might say. Also I hope you didn't put on Store Addition which can come with some disks. Have you put on the 4gb patch? You will need that, disks or UC, on modern hardware. https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371

Unless you added Store Addition I would stay on disks now that you have them all installed.
