Building to the edge of the lot?
I have looked all over the forums,
and at many, many mods, but I was
unable to find my question answered.

I would like to know if it is possible to
build all the way to the edge of the lot.

I am building "apartment" style houses,
ie. homes on small lots, packed in.

You can see what I mean in this pic:

The red area is the area I need to build on.

As you can see, there isn't exactly enough
room for a house on the foundation you see
here, so I hope you understand my dilema.

Thanks in advance! :p

The last second row of the lot can be built diagonally only.

Yet, to expand the lot is the only way to build the highlit regions when proper expansion is made.

But without lot expansion, then like what patul said, no.

Funney, dont waste your time too much, since years 100% of the builders tried to do it ....without any success
Its is a structural game limitation. As said niol the only way to build in these areas is to expand the lot (andi8104 LotExpander works untill EP3).

A big fraud of my previous post is that one may be able to mod that limit... even though it's impossible in terms of build-tricking.

I'm no code-guy,
so I'm just guessing,
but it seems to me anything
written in code can be changed,
you just have to find where it
is, and all that.

No, if it's hard-coded in the exe or similar file, even the codes and blah blah are known, one may still fail to mod it. It really depends on several things.

Eventually they will do it, but will it be before the sims 3 comes out? Don't get your hopes up. Maybe maxis will fix it in ts3. Who knows?

A workaround that is very tedious but worked is to use the lot expanders. The terrain has to start off completely flat or else you get a phantom floor effect.

Lay all the lots, a size narrower than you wanted. Use the lot expander to expand the left hand edge of each of the. Then you can arrange the walls in such a way that they appear to join up and create adjoined buildings.

As say Inge walls cannot be joined but fences may be with the lot expander... Caution its works only up to OFB (EP3).

Patul, the walls can be joined, I have done it! What you have to do is exactly duplicate a part of the building on both overlapping lots. Provided the land was completely flat it will work very well visually. You will simply see the graphics changing to the lower quality two squares from the edge of the lot, but there will not be a gap.

Obviously the wall cannot actually go over two grids from the edge, but when it ends the fake graphics from the expanded next door lot will take over.

Inge, I am often thinking in uploading terms, not in game play only.
