Default Unlocking Hidden Floor Tiles, etc
There are a number of unlocked floor tiles that I thought people might like to check out. The way you get them is by opening the txt file, for example for floor tiles you go to the following directory;

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Catalog\Scripts\floorPatterns.txt

and by putting a # in front of every instance of notInCatalog.

The easiest way to do this is to open the file with wordpad and use the find and replace feature found in the edit menu.

What this does is it basically tells the game to show the files in the catalog.

As per always when editing program files keep a backup of your original file.

There are a number of terrain paints and other goodies hidden in the other files in this directory too, so have a look.

Always backup the Original though!!!

Your welcome, I stumbled on them recently and found some great floor tiles that are used for road markings and such. It was good to have them usable.

Oh....thanx for the info. Why on earth does EA hide goodies like this from us? Are they meant to be "opened" in future ex packs or what? Or are they just roadcoverings and such?

Meyrin,
Did you save the file after making the changes? If you forgot to save and just closed it, it wouldn't change a thing. It is an easy thing to forget

Would it be possible to hide the uglier floors now in the game using this method? Somewhere, a long time ago, I think I saw where someone had extracted the hidden floor files and made them available to load like regular downloaded floors. I think I even had some of them, but can't find them now. I read somewhere that you can use the crosswalk tiles to make Sims cross where you want them to in community lots and such.

Ok I tried it and it worked! I need to ask some questions here. 1. I have a lot of road tiles showing now. Is there anyway I can get them into the main neighborhood setting so I can build roads with them? (Especially in new neighborhoods). 2. Does Maxis hide any other files from us that can be unhidden in the same way? For instance-walls, doors, windows etc.? 3.If there are some floor tiles of Maxis's that you don't like and don't intend to use, will deleting the # infront take it out of the catelog? 4.Also when you set them up not to be in the catalog, does that mean that they don't load and are not taking up memory?
